Fantastic experience: Great wares and very helpful - I love looking at all the nifty gizmos they have. It’s always a stop when I’m in town.

Fantastic experience: This is the largest, most well-stocked spy shop with the widest selection of gear of any spy shop I've ever been to. The vast array of different products, gizmos, and gadgets they have is dizzying. Some of the things they have I can't even imagine them existing, and yet these folks have them. They have all the normal stuff, hidden cameras, regular cameras, electronic bugging devices, electronic bug finders, telescopes, binoculars, covert-carry products, secret compartments to stash stuff in, and much more. There is gear (and books on the topic) covering the (very tall) walls, in the display cases, and on virtually every surface visible. Despite this extensive inventory, not everything they have is on open display, so if you have a product you're after, or an application or situation you are trying to navigate, talk to one of their helpful staff. I wouldn't call these folks "spy nerds," more like "spy curators." They aren't unknowledgeable kids fresh out of high school. They are seasoned pros, with decades of experience. This is evident from even the most casual conversation with the staff there. If you've got some spying to do, our some counter-spying to do, or are trying to root out the spies in YOUR life, give these folks a visit. For what it's worth, I have visited less than a dozen shops providing spy equipment, so keep my somewhat limited experience in mind. It is possible there are better spy shops somewhere in the world, but I've never seen one.

Negative experience: I had a terrible experience at this shop. I went in for a pistol and, upon inspecting the equipment, I realized it was faulty and seemed risky to use. When I brought up my concerns, instead of offering a refund or addressing the issue, the owner argued with me and insisted I either buy something else or keep the faulty item. This is completely unacceptable. Customer safety should always come first, and this shop’s refusal to offer a reasonable solution is deeply frustrating. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for reliable and safe equipment.

Negative experience: This store is beyond despicable. I was in a state of panic when I went there, absolutely terrified because I thought someone was tampering with my car. I was vulnerable and scared, and instead of helping me, they took advantage of my situation to make a sale. I repeatedly asked if I could return the item for a cash refund if I didn’t find it useful, and they assured me—over and over again—that I could. I trusted their word because I was desperate and didn’t feel like I had any other options at the time. When the item turned out to be useless, I tried to return it, only to be told that I could only get store credit. This is after they guaranteed me a refund. Their promises meant nothing, and they exploited me at my most vulnerable. To make it worse, the product they sold me is a scam. They claimed it was an M2000, but it’s actually a DS100 with a fake label slapped on it. The paperwork inside even proves it’s not what they said it was. They charged me $1,300 for something that costs $100 online. It’s not just bad business—it’s outright fraud and exploitation. This place preys on people when they’re scared and desperate. They don’t care about their customers; they only care about squeezing as much money out of them as possible, no matter the lies or harm involved. Please don’t let them do this to you. Stay far away from this store—they’re dishonest, heartless, and will take advantage of anyone to make a quick buck.

Fantastic experience: We did the Zombie experience as a pair. The laser guns are very accurate and there is a training level to get a feel for them. Owner was very patient and engaging. Fun, unique experience while vacationing in San Francisco!

Fantastic experience: The store owner is so very nice and explains how everything works and also gives you background how each device came about! There are tons of gadgets for jr. spies and experienced. There are also charger and souvenirs for tourists i highly recommend you check this place out and bring your kids! I’ve been coming here since i was a kid and as an adult it’s still cool and the service is even better.

Fantastic experience: Tony is amazing and very helpful. I did the lock picking class and omg it was so much fun. I paid for the full 40 minute class and definitely worth every penny. Not going to lie, it got a little bit frustrating but by the end I was able to unlock the padlock 3 times. I strongly suggest checking this shop out if you’re in San Fran

They have super cool stuff in here and the older gentleman that was working in there was super kind and engaged in a nice conversation. Overall a great experience:)

Negative experience: Do not buy anything from this store. They are straight up crooks. Everything is extremely overpriced and they don’t allow returns because they know they are screwing you from the get go. Beware!

Negative experience: Tony was super friendly my only issue was later when checking their website I saw the item I purchased for $50 less on their website. I called to see if they would match their own price I was given a b.s. excuse that those products come straight from the warehouse untested, but since I bought from the store it was tested and therefore more? Will not be shopping there again buyer beware.

Positive experience: Is there a nice part of the city kind of touristy but nice the prices are a little high but the guy who runs the place maybe even owns it well he runs it like he owns it that's for sure nice courteous clean sense of humor and make sure each customer got individual time and if there's anything you need or any questions to ask he was very knowledgeable about all his products he had for sale and he definitely had a lot of different products like a wide range of stuff for sale I definitely enjoyed that shop

Fantastic experience: To visit is an experience and the manager is very welcoming. Not to mention so many amazing electronic devices James Bond would be in awe of.

Negative experience: We were rung up for three items at 10:35 am before we were to head out of the city, that cost $18.99 each. We were presented with a credit card slip to sign for $84.66. Without a calculator, it was easy to spot that we were about to be overcharged. The clerk showed us the computer screen that clearly listed the three items for $18.99 but then they explained that there was sales tax added. We explained that the total was clearly wrong because sales tax on $57.97 could no way be over $25.00! So they called the owner. Then they told us the owner would be in later in the afternoon and to come back! We said we needed to get on the road. Then they did another transaction that reflected the correct price, but we said that first we wanted the original amount cancelled and be given the credit card receipt that reflected that credit. The lady said "we are new hires and do not know how to do that." We told them which buttons to push on the credit card machine. They finally figured it out. Thankfully, we had never signed the first slip but did sign the refund slip. Then they asked if we still wanted the items! We would have bought them, but did not want to risk going through all of that again! It seems very irresponsible for the store owner to have two "new hires" at his store by themselves, especially when they do not know how to fix mistakes, process refunds, etc. The lady did apologize and said that being overcharged was not intentional. I believe it was not intentional on her part, but I do have a feeling that the store owner has something fishy going on because he had his employees tell us he would be in LATER to help us. Why not just walk them through what to do on the phone? I think he knew that we were probably visiting and would not be able to come back later. I will never trust this store again, and I shopped here ten years ago, the last time I was in Frisco.

Negative experience: Had same experience as previous poster - this is an awful and dishonest store that carries discontinued products at outrageous prices, and their products do not work. Within 1 day I of purchase I tried to return the overpriced camera that did not work and they just laughed at me. Total sham and disgraceful business. Have fun looking if you want but DO NOT BUY anything here unless you want to throw your money away.

Negative experience: If International Spy Shop tries to sell you anything, don't walk, but instead run for the hills. I'm now taking action against this rotten apple through Consumer Action and a report of consumer fraud through the Consumer Protection Division of the District Attorney's Office, because I'm entitled to a refund. On Oct. 11, 2021, an employee named Tony sold me a covert keychain camera ("camera") for my nephew for $304.14. Little did I expect either the degree of dishonesty that was present in this transaction or his refusal the next day to refund my money for the defective camera, upon presentation of the sales receipt and contrary to what California commercial law allows. First, the camera was proved defective, not just by yours truly, but by Tony himself the following day. The camera is defective because a non-defective camera is one that the buyer can make work by following the instructions without having to resort to guesswork, is one whose contents are accessible on a computer with the USB cable provided, and is one whose video functions as described in the sales transaction. Thus, the buyer, was entitled under section 2601of California's Commercial Code to "(a) Reject the whole" and to obtain other remedies under section 2711 "in addition to recovering so much of the price as has been paid". On the date of purchase, Tony reassured me that the video was high quality, since he reassured me "this isn't like one of those cameras you buy on Amazon, it's much better quality." He also stated that each camera was pre-tested by the store. But, even in fully lighted conditions, the video appears dark and green and blue at random places. Further, Tony stated that to operate the camera "you just have to follow the instructions". But the videorecording I fortunately took, just in case, shows Tony himself saying he'll check whether the camera operates according to the instruction manual, before he fails completely when he actually tries to follow the instructions. Dishonestly, to boot, because after that failure, he alleges he's following the instructions but then I call him out on that lie, since I've spotted that he's actually ignoring the instructions and has only managed to operate the camera by pressing a combination of buttons that is different from that which the instructions indicate. His dishonest tactic didn't get him too far, however, because my video recording shows him proceeding to link up the camera to the store's computer via the USB cable included with the camera, but to no avail, i.e. the camera's video remained undetected and inaccessible on the computer. So much for pre-testing. Second, California law does not permit the return policy Tony stated on the day I tried to return the camera. On the purchase date, Tony had reassured me I could return the camera in the next seven days and after that they would refer me to the manufacturer. But on the following day, when I tried to return the camera, Tony stated that the return policy was that all sales are final. According to the California Attorney General, "retailers that won't give a full refund or credit within seven days of purchase when goods are returned with a receipt, must clearly display their policy at each cash register and sales counter, or at each public entrance . . . If a store violates this law (California Civil Code section 1723) by not clearly displaying their limited or no return policy, you can return the purchased item with proof of purchase for a full refund within 30 days." None of the above requirements were met for the stated return policy's validity. The sole sign in the store near the cash register does not meet the above requirements, because it cannot "clearly display" the policy when it does not even face the customer as she or he pays, but rather has been carefully angled towards the rear of the store. Also, the requirements are not met because there are no signs with that unusual policy on any of the counters, and the requirement uses the conjunctive "AND". Lastly, there is no sign at any entrance.

Negative experience: One star for inaccurate information that I went inside that I thought it open because the open hours on Yelp and Google. Got told to get out of the store. Got here at 10:39 am which it listed open at 10 am. Just I felt so awkward that the staff said no and asked me “Does it look open.” First of all, the door is unlocked. It’s not my fault not knowing it.

Fantastic experience: Everything you need to feel like a spy. They have GPS trackers, video pens and so much more! They also take great steps to protect their customers from COVID. They give you gloves and take your temperature. A must visit when you visit SF!

Fantastic experience: This shop is super cool to look around. There's an infinite quantity of fun gadgets and gadgets to have fun with. What's more, the workers are super good about allowing individuals to demo things before purchasing and being very helpful and friendly describing how different things work in addition to recommending particular products. I'd definitely recommend stopping by in the event that you've got enough time!

Fantastic experience: Another one of San Francisco finest stoors, they have the most amazing spyware I have ever seen. Just love this shop. From small to top of the range products, go see for yourself. Very close to fisherman's wharf. No pictures, because your not allowed to take any in the shop. Recommended.

Positive experience: Cool shop! Wide array of surveillance cameras and some really neat stuff.

Positive experience: Lots of gadgets and interesting out of the norm toys. One thing I will say is that they advise to sell Airsoft gear and it is extremely limited. They have a few guns, but as for bbs, they only carry .20 and .11 gram bbs and they are hilariously overpriced. Other than that, they have quite the setup.

Fantastic experience: This store is super cool to look around. There is an endless amount of fun gadgets and trinkets to play around with. Furthermore, the employees are super good about letting people demo things before buying as well as being very friendly and helpful explaining how different things work as well as recommending specific products. I would definitely recommend stopping by if you have the time!

Negative experience: I went there for airsoft stuff and there was one extremely small case with hardly anything in it. The little bit of airsoft stuff they did have they new nothing about. This should not be listed as a airsoft retail store.

Positive experience: Very interesting store. It has a wide variety of security cameras from home/commercial types to covert/spy types. It's a little pricey ($$$ - $$$$) but there's no price for your peace of mind! Sorry, couldn't take a pic inside the store covertly.

Fantastic experience: This place is so much fun! I didn't buy anything but wanted to buy half the store haha...they have airguns you can test shoot, side mirrored spy sunglasses that let you see someone sneaking up from behind or if you happen to need to be watching someone inconspicuously nearby. Haha. They have small safes for storage of valuables that LOOK like a can of beans and other common household items which a robber is less likely to discover much less be looking for. The list of fun items is enough to write pages and pages of reviews but I'll just let you discover those when you go to this gem of a spot for yourself!

Positive experience: Way over priced and full of the cheapest manufactured junk and gag toys. Friendly service and a few diamonds in the rough but overall you can find the same stuff online. Fun to come and look though!

They have everything from the simple household stuff to advanced technology that you could barely even imagine. Fantastic experience: My son had never visited a spy shop before so this was a real treat for him. When we found out there was an Airsoft firing range within the store, well, we had to try it. We started with a 300-shots with an M4 rifle and then tried 100 shots with a pistol. What a blast! The store had a great selection of spyware and other very interesting goods. Well worth the visit.

Lots of cool stuff but no pics allowed inside the store but trust me they got some gadgets. These aren't gimmicks either although they do carry some things geared towards kids. Fantastic experience: We have been in here before, it is a fun shop to walk around in. We opted for the shooting range in the back. You use a electronic weapon and point to a large projection screen. We went with Wild West, where you warm up with bottles on a fence, then a fast draw, and then try to hit bad guys that pop up from behind things. If you are a fair shot, then this is a blast. Otherwise, you would get shot and “try again”. The price can be steep depending on your options, but it is a fun novelty.

Fantastic experience: Wow, forgot to write a review, but thank you to the Spy Shop for secretly giving my former boss explosive toilet issues. The powder was discret and easy to put in his soda. Will be back if I have anymore issues with folks.

Positive experience: Got a really neat lock picking set, which will be handy as we are forever losing keys. Some of their products were kind of geeky, but it was fun and different from the norm in a tourist centered marketplace.

Positive experience: I have not seen many spy shops in all of the states that I have traveled to but this one was really fun to pour through. If I had real money, I would definitely be interested in buying some of the gadgets here to keep my home safe. I'm not interested in any of the weapons except maybe to hang on my wall.

Positive experience: Cool place to stop in and browse. A little pricey, but has some cool stuff to buy and some historical gear. Staff showed us how to get out of hand cuffs and you can pay to watch a lock picking class.
