I've been to this office a couple of times for fingerprints, criminal record checks etc. and both times I've had a wonderful experience, always greeted with a smile and the service is always super professional and efficient. I have also had first rate help from Jake Slobodian on a number of occasions who has always been extremely professional, patient, kind and very willing to help in any way he can. I highly recommend this office and thank you everyone for always making the experience very positive.

Negative experience: Was threatened and screamed at by one of their gate guards saying he would get me thrown in jail and have my car impounded simply for unknowingly going in the wrong lane since the main lane was blocked off with traffic cones. Power trip much.

Negative experience: Paid a lot of money to have a Visa waiver they handled this application like a 4 year old. Went to the US border with my application, Homeland Security told me whoever did my application didn't know what they were doing . My advice is get a lawyer for do-it-yourself

When I first walked in the building, I said “hi I have an appointment” the receptionist, he didn’t say hi back and just said something along the lines of why are you here. That should have been my warning sign to leave, it’s pretty common customer service knowledge to say “hi” to a customer. I immediately felt unwelcome and that my presence was a bother to those around me here. When it was my time to go back for my appointment, the woman who I saw was very unfriendly. She asked a lot of questions, in an interrogation style. I felt stressed and pulled out my phone to show her what I was referring to, then said “you cannot use phones in here and I cannot look at that.” In the rudest tone possible. Then stating “you really need to be prepared to ask exactly what you need so that we can help you” in a tone that made me felt as though I was just wasting her time. Okay, I get that it is a policy but you could have said all of that in a nicer way, or offered to help me print something from my phone. So if you have something on your phone, print it before coming in!!!!!! I wish they put that on their “reminder” emails. The whole experience was disappointing, distressing and made me sad that being nice and helpful to customers at your workplace isn’t common anymore.

The lady who took my fingerprints was rude and impatient - she shushed me when I communicated important information, then later got upset because she didn’t hear me. My hope is that the rest of the staff can adopt the same customer-centric attitude. Currently, only the person at the front desk consistently demonstrates a welcoming smile and professionalism and also a big reason for changing my 1 star to 5 . Negative experience: Very unpleasant experience. Theresa, who my appointment was with didn't seem to be actually hearing what I was saying in regards to what type of record check I needed, resulting in her giving me the wrong one. I had a reference photo for which report I need, and she refused to look at it. I have now spent $89.00 on an incorrect report and now have to spend an additional $89.00 due to her lack of interest in a customer. It truly seemed like she just wanted me out, although the office was completely empty.

Positive experience: The Immigration Canada requested a set of inked fingerprints that was stipulated in the website, for background checking in my country, and upon arrival I was told I had to make two sets (because it was normal procedure) even though there is nowhere in any of the Canadian websites that say so, I was " recommended" to take two sets, paying more than $120.00 cad, so double check before going over!!!

As someone with an invisible disability, my experience here will dissuade me from applying to federal jobs in the future.

Positive experience: No longer the premium security company that they once were. Other companies pay more and offer better benefits. Too many people working in head office. Those in HO are out of touch with those working in the field. Head Office interfere with their supervisors and usually by people that have never even visited the site. HO don't listen to suggestions from the field and if they do they are not acted on. Still too caught up in the military, arrogant and out of touch. Most other companies in this industry are now better to work for. Once the option for first refusal on the Federal Govt. Sites is gone they are finished, as they have lost all their other long term sites.

And Don and the Victoria Commissionaires found him sooo quick and were so compassionate to my situation and I really felt genuine sympathy and a sense of Caring. I went for FBI Certificates (Identity History Summary Check), I showed the staff the request email FBI sent me. the FD258 Form downloaded from FBI website and they kept yelling at me said I should know what kind of service I need. That is the service I NEED!!!! I came here and pay for 89 CAD to save the time and effort to check how to do a very standard process. YOU should be the one telling me HOW TO DO IT, not me telling you! Especially after I said the formal name of the document, they have no idea what that is! Funny thing is they finally gave me a fingerprint on FD1164 titled Identity History Summary Request, the name I said at beginning! also, FD1164 is the wrong form for me because I applied online, and 1164 is for mail only. SOOOOOOO unprofessional, don't even know their own job, and judging me all the time for being not sure!

The Gentleman at the reception, I think his name is Dan, what a wonderful and helpful. I arrived one hour early and the area is residential. He came out to the main street to point the Cafe which is under a residential building. The servers at the cafe was very polite young adults and ate my lunch. Back to the office at the time of my appointment and met with the person who took my fingerprints. What a gentleman. I was nervous I told him. And he reassured me that no reason to be nervous and It was done quicker than I expected. I really wanted to say thank you for the courtesy, respect and proffossionalizm. Arsema.

Negative experience: I would suggest avoiding the Commissionaires in Victoria if possible if you have to get your fingerprints done for an FBI criminal record check for permanent residency. My fiancé went in March 2021 and the gentleman told her the digital copy of her fingerprints didn't turn out well. She asked if he could try again but he said no, charged her the $63 and told her to try sending them anyways. So she paid them along with the FBI fee of $24 and the Canada Post shipping of $35 and sure enough, the FBI rejected them because the quality was poor. She then called the Commissionaires in Victoria to explain what happened and they said that frequent hand sanitizing due to COVID can dry out your hands. They suggested she use moisturizer and schedule another appointment to try again, which she did. Luckily they didn't charge her the $63 a second time, but she had to pay the FBI's $24 fee and the Canada Post shipping of $35 again, and the FBI rejected them again because of the poor quality. At this point, she was nearing the deadline to submit her application for permanent residency and the only missing document was her FBI criminal record check, which she needed because she previously lived in the US. I called the Commissionaires in Victoria and they were very rude and dismissive. The man I spoke with said the FBI is just too picky. He asked how to spell her last name to check her fingerprints, laughed and said her last name was weird because he hadn't heard it before. He then transferred me to one of his colleagues that does the fingerprint scans. She said it's not their fault that my fiancé doesn't have fingerprints and they can't magically make her have fingerprints. At this point I got fed up and could tell they weren't interested in offering any kind of customer service, so I told them to take a hike. I called the Commissionaires in Nanaimo, explained the situation, and Robert there said he could schedule us in the same day, so we drove there right away. They're the only place on Vancouver Island doing ink fingerprints, which Robert did a great job of. He even provided a second set free of charge. We sent those to the FBI and they were accepted with no problem. My fiancé finally got her criminal record check from the US and now has everything she needs for her permanent residency in Canada. Usually I wouldn't write such a lengthy review like this, but my fiancé's relatives are going through the permanent residency process too and their fingerprints from the Commissionaires in Victoria were also rejected for poor quality, so this isn't an isolated incident. If a business is advertising a service that impacts someone's ability to stay in Canada, they should be equipped to provide quality fingerprints that will be accepted by the FBI. Rather than saying it's not their problem, they should have some empathy for what people are going through and be prepared to refer people to the Commissionaires in Nanaimo to get this done.

Positive experience: Nice tidy waiting room and courteous staff. However, the person who took my fingerprints incorrectly recorded the Document Control Number on my applicant request form. Kind of a headache since I had to fix the issue with my HR dept.
